About
Apogeo Guest House
Apogeo Guest House is a hotel concept space, located in San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua, centering the hospitality experience of both local and international LGBTQIA2S+ communities, and specifically the experience of queer and trans people of color.
After the rolling gate opens and upon pulling into the driveway, guests are greeted by a spacious pool with views of the Pacific Ocean, where your hosts will be ready to welcome you with open arms.
One of most interesting features of the space is the shape of its structure, which is reminiscent of a lighthouse, and why locals refer to our Guest House as “Casa El Faro.” The original building architect is retired Nicaraguan architect Nelson Brown, and designer Sara Elise has artfully enhanced the space to craft a peaceful and serene environment that includes a front room for gathering (that also houses the onsite herbal apothecary and other guest amenities), a kitchen and breakfast nook, guest suites & washrooms, a small outdoor fruit and herb garden, a long wooden table for working and dining al fresco, an in-ground pool with pool lounge chairs as well as traditional Nicaraguan outdoor seating, and an open-air studio for use by Active Season Work Fellows.
The experience perfectly balances sensitivity to the environment with the demands of modern boutique hospitality. Low-key, low-impact, and low-stress, with easy access to all of the region’s most pleasant beaches.
Private guest suites are bright and minimally furnished with custom-made pieces to create a peaceful and serene atmosphere.
Each space is unique in design, and has been curated with elements that echo the surrounding land, wind, and ocean. Clean lines and soft linen amongst poured concrete, cowhide, and greenery set the stage for custom wood-furniture, natural fiber rugs, and local hand-crafted artwork.
Eco-luxury amenities such as cotton waffle bathrobes, Olaplex bond builder hair care products, whipped shea butter, and natural body wash fill the washrooms.
And it's all set beneath wooden beamed ceilings that stretch upwards, reaching towards the sky.
Apogeo Guest House sits in harmony with the land, the local town of San Juan del Sur, and the stunning sunsets that frame our magical setting.
A lively and charming beach town, San Juan del Sur is home to some of the best surfing beaches in the world. The rich diversity of the region’s flora and fauna allows Apogeo Guest House the ability to offer a wide array of activities and experience to our guests, including ATV tours on volcanic islands, sunset horseback riding, and guided excursions to old towns filled with colorful art.
The food & beverage offered onsite is a pleasurable combination of healthful, indulgent, locally-inspired, and delicious— incorporating contemporary touches on many of the region’s typical dishes, while also providing an assortment of options for guests with varied dietary needs. Room service and al-fresco dining are both available, or simply enjoy a signature cocktail while watching the sun set over the ocean.
